History
About the venue
Opened in 1904, His Majesty's Theatre is the only working Edwardian theatre in Australia and one of the oldest continuously operating performance venues in the country.
The building was saved from demolition in the 1970s and restored, and today it anchors Perth's mainstage calendar as the resident home of West Australian Opera and West Australian Ballet.
Its horseshoe auditorium, ornate plasterwork and tiered dress circle give it the feel of a classic European opera house in the middle of the Perth CBD.
